美国9月份贸易赤字超出预期，进口增加而出口却连3个月下滑是赤字恶化主因，意味着全球需求趋于疲软。
美国商务部数据显示，贸易逆差月增8%至417.78亿美元，高于彭博社调查预估的390亿美元，其中出口月减4亿至1,889亿美元，进口月增27亿至2,307亿美元。
进口成长主要反映移动电话与汽车产品输入增加，出口衰退则反映欧洲与许多开发中国家对于工业产品的需求疲软。
贸易收支呈现顺差的国家有，香港(32亿美元)、澳洲(15亿美元)、新加坡(13亿美元)与巴西(10亿美元)等。
贸易出现逆差的国家包括，中国大陆(当月是305亿美元，前月是299美元）、欧盟国家(当月是80亿美元，前月是98亿美元）、德国(61亿美元)、OPEC国家(59亿美元)、日本(55亿美元)、墨西哥(53亿美元)、加拿大(32亿美元)、沙特阿拉伯(32亿美元)、南韩(21亿美元)、爱尔兰(18亿美元)、印度(17亿美元)、委内瑞拉(13亿美元)。
