强势美元是金价下跌背后的罪魁祸首。美国疫苗方面取得令人鼓舞的进展，激发了人们对美国经济更快复苏的希望，从而提振了人们对美元的兴趣。如果美元在未来一周延续涨势，这可能会拖累金价走低。如果欧洲的新冠肺炎相关担忧加剧了避险需求，金价仍可能反弹。
与此同时，虽然欧洲疫情局势在推动避险需求，但欧洲和美国的接种进度不同，进一步吸引投资者买入美元，这令美元走强的趋势得到稳固。一周仓位数据显示，美元看多的整体趋势依然稳固，对冲基金削减整体空仓押注至2020年6月以来最低水平，同时增加对日元的偏空押注。如果美元继续走强的话，黄金和股市可能会延续近期同步走低的局面。
