美聯儲前瞻：鮑威爾可能對兩方面情形表明態度

美聯儲在12月份政策會議結束後決定維持利率不變，並承諾未來將繼續向金融市場注入資金，以對抗衰退，儘管在疫苗接種開始後，政策制定者對明年的展望有所改善。12月份會議聲明的措辭首次將每月1200億美元的購債計畫與一系列經濟指標聯繫起來。
不過自美聯儲12月會議以來公佈的經濟數據令人失望，分析師稱聯儲決策官員可能會力抗疫苗接種將提振經濟、或是今年春季物價可能會大漲等聯想，這些都是會導致他們對於持續寬鬆貨幣政策承諾有所動搖的因素。
和廣大交易商一樣，美聯儲也在密切關注美國總統拜登提出的1.9萬億美元財政刺激計畫的進展情況。美國參議院多數黨領袖舒默表示，民主黨議員可能嘗試以簡單多數票通過總統拜登新冠救助法案的大部分內容。但不清楚他們是否擁有足夠的票數克服共和黨的反對。
美聯儲主席鮑威爾本周或再度重申，即不會根據樂觀預測採取行動，而是會對數據做出反應。新上臺的拜登政府已經承諾，將加快和簡化疫苗分發。
國際貨幣基金組織(IMF)週二(1月26日)上調美國經濟2021年增長預期兩個百分點至5.1%，歸因於2020年下半年的強勁勢頭帶來延續效應，並得益於去年12月批准9000億美元的額外財政支持。並稱，如果美國國會通過拜登提出的紓困計畫，增長預期可能會進一步上調。
美聯儲決策者毫不懷疑今年很多商品和服務的成本將上漲，但他們認為，物價上漲預期是受到經濟活動加速提振，也因為去年物價低迷而失真。這是回歸正常的一部分，並非更為持久的負面通脹問題的開始。鮑威爾和其他美聯儲官員可能在本周政策會議結束後強化這一資訊。
自2020年初疫情爆發以來，美國已有超過2600萬人感染了新冠病毒，死亡人數接近44萬人。分析師稱，儘管拜登的救市計畫面臨部分議員的阻力，不過不太可能令從疫情中復蘇脫軌。
