1月6日，現貨黃金出現巨大跌幅，刷新本周新地點，由於美元反彈，美債收益率盤攀升，降低了黃金作為避險工具的吸引力，同時特朗普支持者和警方在國會山發生衝突，市場避險需求提升，限制了黃金的下行空間。
週三美國國債收益率攀升，10年期美債收益率突破1%，最高接近1.06%；分析師稱，長期國債收益率的上漲對金價不利，如果10年期國債收益率繼續攀升，未來金價將繼續承壓。
據外媒報導，當地時間1月6日下午，特朗普支持者和員警之間發生暴力衝突，迫使美國國會大廈緊急封鎖，國會議員們受困在國會山。據美聯社，宣佈國會大廈封鎖的時候，國會議員們正在開會並準備投票確認拜登勝選。由於“外部的安全威脅”，任何人不能進入或離開國會山，錄音如此說。國會兩院被迫突然休會。
這起衝突事件在特朗普向數千名支持者發佈講話不久之後發生，週三，在國會進行投票之前，特朗普在集會中用毫無根據的選舉欺詐言論煽動起了人群。
“我們不會讓他們熄滅你們的聲音”特朗普向示威者宣稱，示威者在天亮之前已經開始排隊以便占到一個好位置聆聽總統演講。
華盛頓市長鮑澤（Bowser）下令從當天晚上6時開始實施宵禁，直到週四（7日）早上6時。宵禁要求，除了市長同意及必要工作者外，任何人不得外出。
受此消息影響，美股大幅回落，現貨黃金一度反彈至1924.34美元/盎司，現貨白銀回升至27.30美元，跌幅縮窄到不足1%，稍早一度跌逾3%。
