8月數據好於預期，現貨黃金短線下挫

9月1日晚，美國方面公佈了市場密切關注的8月ISM製造業數據，數據結果超出市場預期，在數據公佈後，現貨黃金短線下挫，收回日內部分漲幅。但市場仍不敢過度看空，目前仍有較多因素支撐黃金。
具體數據顯示，美國8月ISM製造業PMI實際公佈56，預期54.8，前值54.2。美國8月ISM製造業PMI錄得56，創2019年1月以來新高。
其中分項，美國8月ISM製造業就業指數實際公佈46.40，前值44.3。分析師指出，雖然該數據超出前值，但仍然低迷，就業分項低迷也可能預示本周非農就業數據表現不佳。
美國8月製造業活動加速升至逾一年半高位，因新訂單激增，但就業仍然落後，這支撐了就業市場復蘇失去動能的觀點。數據顯示美國8月ISM製造業PMI升至56，為自2019年1月以來的最高水準。但製造業的持續改善並不均衡，新冠肺炎大流行導致支出從用於餐館和酒吧等服務行業的設備轉向購買家用電器等商品。
疫情對美國製造業影響相對較弱，面對訂單增加和庫存減少，更多的工廠提高了產量。數據表明，在需求在防疫封鎖措施期間大幅下降的幾個月後，生產商的環境趨於穩定。但是，由於冠狀病毒阻礙了需求的持續加快，改善的步伐可能放緩。
美國製造業按照工業產值的排序為非耐用消費品、汽車及零部件、建材、耐用消費品、資訊技術、國防和飛機。整體來看，衛生事件加速了美國製造業去庫，製造業當前呈現去庫末期/主動補庫早期，景氣度見底回升的狀態。
美國總統特朗普在經濟方面力推製造業回流，他在上臺後通過肆意提高關稅的政策企圖實現美國製造業的就業人數和待遇。不過就目前美國製造業的表現，可以說特朗普提振製造業的舉措是落空了。
8月份製造業好轉勢頭進一步增強，表明第三季度生產將從第二季度的急劇下滑中強勁反彈。令人鼓舞的是，新訂單流入量明顯改善，超過了生產速度，導致許多公司難以生產出足夠的產品來滿足需求，通常是因為缺乏運營能力。因此，未完成工作的積壓量以2019年初以來最快的速度增長，鼓勵越來越多的公司雇用更多的員工。
