2月6日，美元指數創下今日新高，原因在於市場擔憂公共衛生事件將對全球經濟造成影響，有分析師調查顯示，未來一個月裡，避險貨幣可能會受到新的提振影響，並認為此次公共衛生事件會讓美元的優勢持續未來六個月。
全球各地當局都力圖阻止病毒迅速擴散，金融市場也受影響。分析師預計這將支撐日圓和瑞郎等避險貨幣本月上漲2%-3%。 亞洲公共衛生事件也料支持已基本主宰匯市約兩年的美元進入2020年仍維持高檔，受訪的分析師中，半數預測美元的優勢將至少再持續六個月。
大田環球表示，只要消息面還是比較消極，美元、日圓和瑞郎很有可能仍會受到追捧，新興市場貨幣將失寵。如果情況惡化，美元指數和日圓可能最多會上漲3%左右。在同樣的情況下，瑞郎兌歐元料升值近2%。
但避險貨幣需求預計不會持續，大多數分析師預計未來12個月美元兌所有主要貨幣將下跌。 預計未來一年，歐元、日圓、英鎊和瑞郎兌美元將走強。 歐元和英鎊一年後漲幅料為4%左右，傲視其他貨幣。緊追在後的是日圓，一年後料比目前上漲逾1.5%。
雖然這樣的看法已有接近兩年的時間，但最新調查卻明顯發生變化。經常預期美元強勢將至少持續六個月的分析師，這次信心沒那麼強了。 50位受訪者中有22位稱，美元的強勢不太可能超過未來六個月時間。其餘受訪者則認為持續時間為6-12個月或者逾一年。
不過，有鑒於全球經濟對美國的依賴，以及美元作為全球儲備貨幣的作用，美元即便出現下滑，很可能程度有限。近期美元將得到來自新興市場及其他風險國家的資金流入，但當這些資金流逆轉時，她也不認為反轉程度會很大。她認為美元12個月後會稍微貶值，或者溫和貶值，因為美國存在衰退風險。這些充其量僅稱得上是溫和下滑。
