2月7日晚，美國勞工部公佈非農就業資料，資料顯示，過去三個月，非農就業新增人數21.1萬，建築業、醫療保健和運輸業的就業人數有所增加，暗示美國經濟可能呈現溫和增長。
非農公佈後，聯邦基金利率期貨暗示，市場預計美聯儲在3月會議上維穩的概率上升至94%，加息概率為0%，降息概率為6.0%；市場預計美聯儲2020年可能降息1次。最早在2020年9月會議上行動，降息概率為62.1%，若此次會議上沒有降息，11月降息概率為66.7%。

美國勞工部公佈的美國1月非農新增就業人口22.5萬，好於預期的16.5萬；失業率意外回升至3.6%，失業率已經連續22個月保持在低於4%的水準，這是自20世紀60年代以來持續時間最長的一次；薪資增速回升至3.1%；工資資料樂觀，有望緩和美國第一季度GDP增速放緩的擔憂情緒，進一步削弱美聯儲降息預期。薪資增速自2018年10月來幾乎一直維持在3%上方，僅2次意外不及3%（9月、12月均錄得2.9%），顯示在國際貿易局勢不穩定、全球經濟低迷的大環境下，美國經濟增速並未出現顯著衰退跡象。
美國1月就業增速有所加快，表明儘管商業投資下滑加劇，但美國經濟可能繼續溫和增長，一反往常的溫和天氣提振了與天氣相關行業的就業。政府對企業的調查顯示，美國1月建築工地就業人口增幅為一年來最高，運輸和倉儲行業的招聘也錄得強勁增長。但隨著公共衛生事件對供應鏈造成影響，尤其是蘋果公司等科技公司的供應鏈，預計2月份就業增長將放緩。
