11月14日，國際金價持續高位收盤，由於經濟數據向好，市場風險偏好受到一定的壓制，但全球經濟黃金以及中美能否達成貿易協議，也讓市場對避險資產有一定的關注。美聯儲則是拒絕了特朗普要求實施負利率的請求。
上個月，全球兩最大經濟體表達了簽署“第一階段”協議，旨在結束貿易衝突的意向，全球金融市場樂觀情緒一度大幅上升。
商務部發言人高峰回應稱，中方多次強調，貿易衝突由加征關稅而起，也應由取消加征關稅而止，這是雙方達成協議的重要條件。
美聯儲主席鮑威爾週三反駁了特朗普總統最喜歡談論的話題，他告訴國會，特朗普所尋求的負利率並不適合美國經濟，目前美國經濟持續增長、勞動力市場強勁且通脹穩定。
鮑威爾表示：“在當前環境下，負利率肯定是不合適的。我們的經濟表現強勁。我們仍在增長，我們的消費者支出強勁，我們有通脹。在一些較大經濟體中，負利率通常出現在經濟增長十分緩慢，通脹很低的時期。但美國目前的情況並非如此。”
特朗普週二在紐約經濟俱樂部演說表示：“請記住，我們正積極地與那些公開降息的國家競爭，現在許多國家在償還貸款時實際上還得到了回報，這就是所謂的負利率。誰聽說過這樣的事？給我一些這樣的政策，給我一些這樣的資金，我需要一些這樣的資金。我們的美聯儲不讓我們這麼做。”
鮑威爾表示：“我們認為，目前的貨幣政策立場未來可能仍然合適，因為我們預計經濟將溫和增長，勞動力市場將保持強勁，通脹率將接近我們2%的對稱目標，基本情境預測依然樂觀……我和我的同事們預計，經濟活動持續擴張…是最有可能發生的情況。”
到目前為止，投資者預期美聯儲可能會維持利率不變直到明年年底，這可能會使美聯儲避免在美國大選期間不得不降息或加息，美元的相對強勢預期，也意味著金價重新上行面臨不小困難。
分析師表示：“有限的通脹壓力將允許美聯儲寧可過於寬鬆也不要冒險犯錯。聯邦公開市場委員會(FOMC)未來幾個月可能繼續保持觀望，不過如果動能跟我們預期一樣開始消退，美聯儲可能會採取行動以維持經濟擴張的態勢。”
