美國房市數據不及預期，金價短線上漲

7月17日，加拿大公佈CPI數據，數據符合預期，但不及前值。而核心通脹超出市場預期，數據公佈後，美元指數激烈震盪。同時美國房市數據表現不及預期，數據公佈後，金價短線上漲。
具體數據顯示，加拿大6月CPI年率(%)實際公佈2.0，預期2.0，前值2.4；加拿大6月核心CPI年率(%)實際公佈2.30，預期2.1，前值2.1。
分析指出，汽油價格走低成為本月通脹數據變動的主要推手，6月汽油價格整體下滑8%，對6月通脹產生0.3個基點的負面影響。在其他領域，隨著近期生產者價格上漲，食品價格也迎來了上漲。剔除食品與能源的核心通脹保持穩定。
上周加拿大央行維持關鍵利率在1.75%不變，並稱一些刺激舉措是“恰當的，”而加拿大央行行長波洛茲在記者招待會上沒有直接對降息提問發表言論。反而鮑威爾在上周的言論中暗示降息。
通脹已經成為加拿大面臨的一個獨有問題，價格漲幅已經高於央行設定的2%目標水準，對比美聯儲正在竭力推動它青睞的通脹指標升至這一水準。類似加拿大這樣依賴大宗商品出口的更小型經濟體在全球貿易憂慮中面臨更大的通脹風險。
加拿大央行的主要預測是通脹率將在明年年中前後重返可持續的2%目標水準。這是許多接受調查的經濟學家預計今年加元匯率在兩個方向上都不會有所變化的原因之一。
美國新屋開工數據連續2個月下跌，營建許可數據跌至2年來新低，表明儘管抵押貸款利率降低，但房地產市場持續慘澹。新屋開工季調數據下降0.9%。雖然單個家庭房屋建造早房地產市場的大頭，但這一部分的數據回升被多家庭房屋建造的下降而拖累，導致了數據錄得減少。
