美國總統特朗普提名經濟學家克裏斯托弗·沃勒以及朱迪·謝爾頓進入美聯儲，兩名候選人可能讓美聯儲更加接近寬鬆政策。而市場認為，即使美聯儲按照預計在本月降息，也難以滿足特朗普的需求。
分析師表示，近期貿易緊張形勢雖有所緩解，但我行認為美聯儲仍將進入寬鬆週期，因為全球製造業的疲軟勢頭仍有增無減，通脹和通脹預期的低企可能會促使美聯儲進行一些“保險性降息”。預計股市會出現一些“迷你泡沫”，有65%的可能性上漲10%。
分析師指出，即使美聯儲如交易員預期的那樣在幾周內降息，也難以滿足特朗普的胃口；如果美國經濟持續強勁，美元也表現出相應的韌性，這種情況下，若美聯儲降息低於預期，特朗普政府對匯市的干預可能性將升高。
分析師說，“幾十年來，美國財政部一直沒有入市壓低美元過，但如果特朗普任內發生改變，我們也不會感到驚訝。”Rai表示，如果美聯儲本月的政策會議沒有實施寬鬆政策，匯市干預風險會增加。
沃勒是聖路易斯聯儲主席布拉德麾下的研究主管，在美聯儲6月份的會議上，布拉德是唯一支持降息的人。作為特朗普非正式顧問的保守派經濟學家謝爾頓曾公開表示美聯儲應當降息，並主張應回歸到金本位制。
