美债收益率会衰退吗？看加拿大收益率曲线

市场试图判断美债收益率曲线倒挂来预测经济衰退是否会到来，可以从加拿大债市找到线索。上周加拿大国债收益率曲线也出现了倒挂，虽然加拿大经济规模只有美国的十分之一，但因为全球贸易局势警长导致全球经济增长放缓，会让加拿大经济受阻。
上周美国10年期国债收益率跌到比三个月国库券收益率还低的水准，曲线倒挂的情况为逾10年来首见。
过去50年，美国每次经济衰退前都出现了收益率曲线倒挂，不过部分市场人士并不把此次倒挂的严重性放在眼里。他们认为全球金融危机过后，美联储购买了数万亿美元国债，籍此压低长期利率，收益率曲线已遭扭曲。
上周加拿大国债收益率曲线也出现倒挂，或许可以成为替代性指引，即使加拿大经济规模仅有美国的十分之一。
加拿大长债发行规模不及美国，这一部分的曲线变化取决于各个省份。尽管其市场并未直接受到央行购债影响，但经济却是与美国息息相关，加拿大很少在美国经济不下滑的情况下出现衰退。
加拿大帝国商业银行(CIBC)资产管理全球固定收益副总裁Patrick O’Toole表示，我认为这两者倒挂均是真正的警讯，债市预期未来几个季度内会出现衰退。加拿大市场发出的信号要比美国更明确，因为加拿大央行并未干预市场。
加拿大在过去50年中曾有过五次衰退，即至少连续两季出现经济萎缩。除了2015年那次的例外，其余都是和美国一起衰退，2015年那年油价发生崩跌。
加拿大国债收益率较美债收益率低98个基点，货币市场本月从预计加拿大央行进一步加息，转变为预计年内降息一次的可能性约为75%。自2017年7月以来，加拿大央行累计加息125个基点至1.75%。
在加拿大，收益率曲线倒挂并不一定预示着经济衰退。但确实会导致金融条件收紧，因为它会削弱银行放贷意愿，打压投资者对能够提振经济增长的长期项目的兴趣。
分析师称，人们对收益率曲线倒挂不屑一顾，但如果倒挂持续或进一步加深，紧缩将令经济增长承压，并且它本身将成为一个自我实现的过程。我总是对债券市场搞错了的看法持谨慎态度。
