脱欧谈判未有进展，未来英镑难以抬头
8月31日欧盟首席谈判代表巴尼尔表示，在第三轮英国脱欧谈判之后，已经“澄清了一些要点”，但在所有关键问题上没有“决定性的进展”消息令英镑兑美元刷新四个交易日低点1.2859。
巴尼尔称，在布鲁塞尔与英国外交大臣戴维斯及其各自代表团进行的为期三天的会谈，已经“澄清了一些要点”，但坚称双方距离达成最终协议仍有相当大的距离。巴尼尔在谈到公民权利和英国的关键问题时对记者表示，我们在所有重要议题上都没有取得任何决定性的进展。
双方在脱欧“分手费”问题上仍未取得进展。英国脱欧大臣戴维斯称，欧盟已经向英国索要巨额脱欧费用。但巴尼尔表示，英国不想承认其法律义务，英国不向欧盟支付责任以外的脱欧费用，是不能接受的。
但巴尼尔表示，在北爱尔兰的边界问题上已经取得了一些进展，但他补充说，他希望“加强谈判的节奏”，以确保取得更大的进展。他表示愿意在2019年3月之前加强谈判，以达成决议。
英国脱欧大臣戴维斯也表示，我们的法律立场截然不同，英国准备好遵循欧盟法律来解决脱欧费用问题，但也将秉持双边关系能继续保持的精神。在避免脱欧带来的不利影响方面，英国的处理方式比欧盟更灵活且更为实际。
