周二（9月2日）公布数据显示，全球制造业均表现不佳。其中，
中国8月官方制造业PMI降至49.7，为半年来首次跌至荣枯线下方，并创下2012年8月以来最低水准，当时为49.2。财新8月中国制造业PMI终值47.3，虽略高于初值47.1，但依然是2009年3月以来最低水准。数据加剧了投资者对这个全球第二大经济体发生硬着陆的担忧。
另外，美国供应管理协会的数据显示，8月全国制造业活动指数从上月的52.7降至51.1，创2013年5月以来最低。分项指标，美国8月就业分项指数从7月的53.8降至52.4，8月数字为2014年7月以来最低。产出分项指数从7月的55.3降至53.8，为2014年1月以来最低。
欧洲方面，意大利制造业活动连续第七个月增长，但增速创下4月来最慢，表明在经历了三年的衰退之后，今年经济复苏持续低迷。法国8月制造业活动创四个月来最快萎缩速度，受需求低迷影响，经济复苏步履维艰。不过，德国8月制造业活动一枝独秀，以16个月来最快速度扩张。
