在周三跌至近一个月低点后，美元指数周四上涨，因人民币跌势放缓，这缓解了市场对于中国通过人民币大幅贬值来提高出口竞争优势的担忧。
美国商务部周四公布的数据显示，美国7月零售销售环比增长0.6%，符合0.6%的预期，前值由原来的-0.3%修正为环比持平。此外，美国7月核心零售销售环比增长0.4%，预期增长0.4%，前值从-0.1%修正为0.4%。数据公布后，一度令美元受到提振。
人民币兑美元周四收跌约0.2%，报6.3990人民币，周三曾触及约四年低点6.4510。
