北京时间8月7日晚间，美国政府公布了7月非农数据，非农业就业增加21.5万，低于市场预期，失业率持稳于5.3%的七年低位，接近美联储估测的充分就业水平5%-5.2%，劳动参与率则持稳于62.6%，为1977年以来最低水平。
路透社评论称，美国7月非农就业稳定增长，主要原因是建筑业、制造业、服务业以及工厂就业岗位的增加，远大于矿业就业岗位的减少，此外薪资也不再停滞不前，表明美国经济正在不断改善，当前就业市场接近充分就业。这两个理由为美联储在9月加息提供了支撑。
美国联邦基金利率期货亦显示，美联储9月加息概率从此次非农数据公布前的46%升至56%；美联储12月加息概率则从72%升至79%。
尽管数据低于预期，偏离幅度不大，美联储依然处于加息轨道上。若如期加息，这将是美国自2006年以来的首次加息。
非农数据公布后，美元指数一度冲高至98.34，刷新4月以来新高，但随后回落。北京时间8月9日晚间10时31分，报97.62。
近日来，黄金接连遭受多重利空打击。世界最大的黄金上市交易基金(ETF)SPDR黄金持仓量在7月大幅减少38.74吨，降至672.7吨，达到2008年3月以来的最低水平。该基金当月减仓水平为2014年12月以来最高的一次。
