眼下希腊与债权人之间的谈判依旧陷入僵局，周三(6月17日)外界纷纷对希腊政府发出警告，如果不能与债权人尽快达成改革换资金协议，希腊就可能被迫退出欧元区并得不到更多援助。
希腊央行周三表示，若达不成协议，该国在欧盟(EU)中的前途也可能成问题。值得注意的是，以前官员拒绝提及“希腊退欧”，现在则开始公然谈论这种前景。
尽管包括美国白宫在内，外界纷纷发出急切的请求，但自从希腊、欧盟、欧洲央行(ECB)及国际货币基金组织(IMF)之间的谈判在周日(6月14日)破裂之后，几乎没有什么进展迹象。
本周四(6月18日)的欧洲财长会议可能是希腊达成协议的最后机会，但目前看来取得突破的希望越发渺茫。希腊财长瓦鲁法基斯预计，周四的卢森堡会议上不会达成协议，他并称只有政府首脑之间达成一致，才可能克服僵局。
当前希腊必须在6月底前找到打破僵局的办法。该国届时需要偿还IMF的16亿欧元(18亿美元)款项，这有可能使其破产和退出欧元区。但希腊磋商协调人察卡洛托斯证实希腊确实没有钱来偿还IMF，不过表示政府将只接受可持续的协议，并解决债务、融资和投资问题，但欧盟曾表示目前并不打算涉及这些问题。
一希腊高级谈判人士表示，总理齐普拉斯的左翼政府准备做出一些让步，不过他再次排除了会削减退休金–这是谈判双方僵持不下的关键点。
德国央行行长魏德曼称，“希腊是否要留在欧元区，完全是希腊政府的责任。如果希腊未能履行偿债义务，后果将难以控制，它不要期待央行出手支持。如果谈判未能在政治层面达成一致，那么欧洲央行将别无选择，只能做出必需的结论。至于是否要金援希腊，要由政治情势、政府和国会决定。”
