据路透社报道，为避免希腊债务违约而进行的协商在周三进展颇不顺利，欧元区成员国财长们指责希腊政府拒绝作出妥协，而错过下周的截止期限可能让希腊脱离欧元区。
欧盟领导人峰会将于周四在布鲁塞尔召开，来自左派政党的希腊总理齐普拉斯将会与债权方机构的领导人彻夜商谈，设法研究出一个以改革换取资金的协议，随后欧元区财长将在当地时间11点再次开会。
下周二希腊必须向国际货币基金组织(IMF)偿还16亿欧元债务，否则就要宣布违约。若希腊真的违约，可能导致银行挤兑和资本管控，并就此脱离欧元区。
欧元集团财长召集紧急会议希望批准一项协议，但会议召开才过一小时就匆匆中止，因为并没有现成的协议供他们讨论。
“很不幸，我们尚未达成协议，但我们决心继续工作，如有必要夜间也将继续工作，”荷兰财长暨欧元集团主席迪塞尔布洛姆对记者表示。
欧元区财长们对再次被召到布鲁塞尔结果却在空等感到恼怒，而欧元区最为薄弱一环的希腊，则抗拒其债权人认为对平衡该国公共财政并提高经济竞争力至关重要的举措。
斯洛伐克财政部长Peter Kazimir抵达时手中挥舞着一本书，称至少他可以在等待时读读书。“我们准备彻夜工作，但却没什么正事可干，”另一位欧元区官员称，“信任丧失殆尽。很难说我们该如何继续下去。”
齐普拉斯整个下午都在与欧盟执委会主席贾克、IMF总裁拉加德、欧洲央行总裁德拉吉和迪塞尔布洛姆磋商，但没有取得突破。
到欧元区财长开会时，谈判代表们仍无法拿出一个草案供讨论，因在养老金改革、税收、劳动法、公务员薪酬和投资等方面分歧严重。
芬兰财长Alexander Stubb对记者表示，“我们没有再把问题丢回给任何人，因为没有可供讨论的东西。”
官员们称，磋商可能还需要延长两日，但如果周六还未能达成协议，希腊和德国议会周一来不及投票表决，希腊可能就无法获得资金在周二还款期限前偿还欠款。该国的欧盟/IMF纾困计划也是在当天到期。
