沙特阿拉伯周三宣布在也门展开军事行动，对包围南部城市亚丁的胡塞武装发动空袭，也门总统曾暂避于该市。另外有10个国家参与了此次军事打击。
沙特驻美国大使Adel al-Jubeir在华盛顿召开的新闻发布会上表示，沙特与海湾盟国和其他国家采取联合军事行动，以“保护也门总统哈迪的合法政府”。他并未透露哈迪的去向。
沙特主导此次空袭行动，由此也被拖入越演越烈的也门国内冲突之中。
路透社称，此次危机可能升级成为一场受大国背后操纵的战争，其中伊朗支持什叶派胡塞武装，而沙特及其他海湾逊尼派国家支持总统哈迪。
受上述消息影响国际油价大涨，美国5月原油期货目前盘中涨势达4.02%，上涨近2美元至50.89美元/桶，盘中已刺穿50日均线，也门局势的突然恶化鼓动原油多头信心；布伦特5月原油期货目前盘中涨幅高达5.21%，涨2.89美元至58.39美元/桶，盘中已突破20日及50日均线交汇点，受也门局势恶化提振，关注近期M形态颈线58.87争夺结果；国际金价一度上探1200美元；在美元走软及也门战事背景下，油价涨势似乎无可抵挡。
也门战事令投资人担心中东石油运输的安全问题。分析师担心如果冲突牵扯到沙特和伊朗，全球最大型油田的所在地阿拉伯半岛可能爆发战争。
