1、根据技术点位设置止损
多单的时候，止损应该设置在关键支撑位的下方，空单的时候，止损应该设置在关键阻力位的上方。
2、根据不同趋势设置止损
止损的位置按照事先设定的关键和阻力位判断以后，一旦出现市场运行趋势与投资者预期出现明显差异，应该即时按照原有设定的价位主动离场，这样就可以把风险控制在最小的范围，达到炒黄金保本的目的。
3、根据趋势操作设置止损
假设在金价上涨过程中买入多单，或是在金价下跌过程中卖出空单，止损价位应该设置在趋势发生改变的时候，可以设置在潜在转变点的下方，在逆势操作过程中，例如在金价上涨过程中卖出空单，止损价位应该设置在金价仍在走高的压力点上方，若为横盘震荡状态，止损位的选择只能在横盘震荡出现突破的时候。
在一笔交易中，投资者必须从入市位置、止损价、止盈价、持仓大小，这四方面来综合考虑，整体衡量风险，最好不要在入市以后再考虑止损位置。
控制炒黄金风险的最有效方法不是止损，它只是我们控制风险的最后一道关卡，在我们设置止损之前，还要选择入市的交易方向、入市时机、交易仓位的大小，这些都是控制风险不可缺少的部分。
止损为一般可以很好地印证金价哦租售，但有时不一定能够将风险控制在规定范围内，可能存在潜在亏损，而亏损和收益比至少是1：2，也就是投资者对贵金属交易行情的分析判断准确率超过50%，就可以大致获利。
