铂金的鉴别方法

色泽
铂金呈银白色或灰白色，界于白银与镍的颜色之间。白银光泽洁白，容易被氧化带黑点或呈黑色；质地细腻光滑。
比重
铂金比重大，为15～19或21.4。白银的比重为10.49。用手掂量同等大小的铂金和白银饰品，就会发现它们的差别。
火烧
纯铂金加热或火烧冷却以后，其颜色不变。白银火烧以后，其表面会呈现润红色或黑红色调。
折弯
纯净的铂金容易折弯和掰直还原；成色较低的，性硬且脆，弯折费力。
听音
敲击时，若发出“托托”声音而无韵者，则是较纯的铂金；若发出“叮叮”尖声，有声有韵者，则是成色较低的铂金。
煤气灯自燃鉴定
将待鉴定的铂金饰品放在煤气灯口上。若是真铂金，则过一两分钟，饰品就会发红，并且煤气灯会自动点燃。若饰品不是铂金，则无此反应。
双氧水反应法
铂金是很好的催化剂，具有独特的催化作用。利用这一特性，可快速鉴定铂金。常用双氧水反应法。具体方法是：取少许待测物粉末，置于盛双氧水（H2O2）的塑料瓶中，若系铂金则双氧水立即白浪翻滚起泡，分解出大量氧气，反应后的铂金仍原封不动，还可回收（它只起加速分解作用）；若是假铂金或其它白色金属，如铅、银、铝等，则无此反应。
