美财政部预算赤字优于预期

美国财政部13日公布月10月份(2014财政年度第1个月)预算赤字优于预期，税收年增8%至1,989.27亿美元，支出年增4.5%至2,905.2亿美元，赤字缺口为920亿美元。
尽管美国在新财政年度刚起跑时就见红字，但幅度较彭博社调查预估的1,020亿美元为低，且较去年同期1,200亿美元的赤字缺口下滑了23.7%。
美国上会计年度全年预算赤字下降至6,803亿美元，为近5年来最低，主要是就业改善、薪资税率提高带动税收成长，以及年初的自动减支机制(sequester)在朝野协商破局后启动所致。
目前维系美国政府运作的临时预算案将在明年1月15日到期，此前朝野两党若不能协议通过新预算案，美国政府又将陷入停摆。彭博社当日报导，美国财政部长Jacob J. Lew表示，有了10月政争的教训之后，他不认为国会议员，尤其是在朝的共和党会让政府关门事件再度重演。
