美联储乔治：希望在明年上半年结束购债计划
对通胀立场强硬的美国堪萨斯联储主席乔治(Esther George)周二(7月16日)表示，美联储(FED)应在9月开始缩减购债计划，明年上半年完全结束。
乔治表示：“我希望看到联邦公开市场委员会(FOMC)开始有条不紊地缩减购债，并在明年上半年的某个时刻结束购债计划。”
美联储主席伯南克(Ben Bernanke)上月称，联储可能将从今年稍晚开始缩减每月850亿美元的购债计划，而且可能在2014年年中前结束购债，到时失业率或降至7%附近。
乔治表示赞成上述做法，尽管稍早在接受当地新闻网站采访时，她曾说已经是时候缩减购债计划了。乔治今年在FOMC有投票权。
乔治在一场农业会议上表示：“如果失业率如预期般下降，而且通胀率朝美联储2%的目标运动，则9月开始减少买债计划且在明年结束，就是恰当的。”
另一方面，她称如果失业率的降速快于预期，美联储也可以加快行动的步伐。
因担心资产购买行动可能影响未来金融稳定且有损央行的抗通胀信誉，乔治曾多次提出异议，因此被誉为美联储立场最强硬的官员之一。
乔治强调称，她希望当失业率触及6.5%时，美联储就开始升息。这一观点与同样是强硬派的费城联储主席普洛瑟(Charles Plosser)的看法一致。
她说：“我个人的观点是，这些门槛应作为触发器。一旦(失业率)降至6.5%附近，市场和公众就应该预计短期利率将被上调。”
