8月21日，现货黄金维持震荡攀升的走势，市场在美联储会议纪要公布前变得十分谨慎。而现货黄金价格在连续大幅上涨之后，目前仍然处于回落调整的情况，但总体上涨趋势明显。
越来越多的预测表明，贸易摩擦和全球增长放缓，正在推动美国经济陷入衰退。虽然特朗普一直矢口否认这种说法，但他也花了很多时间提出一些可以避免衰退的政策。
随着2020年的大选升温，经济萎缩的可能性越来越大，可能会重创特朗普连任的希望。根据8月份经济学家的一项调查显示，未来一年经济陷入衰退的可能性已上升至35%。
分析师表示，“收益率曲线的倒挂引发美国投资者不安，在美联储会议记录公布前，以及杰克森霍尔会议的消息出来之前，人们都在寻求逢低买进。”
意大利国债本月表现拉锯，因为投资者担心如果Salvini组阁则会增加开支，导致罗马与布鲁塞尔之间重新爆发预算争端。如果出现新的执政联盟，可能摧毁Salvini直接领导政府的野心。
市场将乐见当前政治联盟中的五星运动党与中间偏左的民主党结盟，但这种联盟的脆弱性也会限制市场上涨空间。目前，这样的结果可能会在未来几个月推迟对明年预算的争执。
北京时间周四凌晨02:00，美国联邦公开市场委员会(FOMC)将公布7月30-31日政策会议的会议纪要。
而美联储上次利率决议的降息举措，是其近年来首度在非季度性决议的情况下作出，由于没有最新利率点阵图和经济预测的发布，市场对于美联储内部官员当时的立场至今并不清晰，本周的纪要无疑有望填补这一空白。
分析师表示，市场在等待美联储会议纪要的结果，或进一步暗示市场紧张。由于地缘政治紧张局势，贸易争端和央行刺激信号，各国中央银行增加黄金储备，因此黄金的基本面依然乐观。
