密歇根大学消费信心指数抢眼
从表面看，美国11月密歇根大学消费者信心指数终值传达信息是：消费者相信特朗普将很快修复美国经济。美国11月密歇根大学预期指数终值为85.2，较10月终值上升了8.4个点，升幅创2011年12月来最大值。预期指数的良好表现可以证明至少受访美国家庭对该国经济前景以及他们自己的钱包持乐观看法。
也许“乐观”还是一个保守的陈述。根据最新报告，在一些情况下，目前美国人对未来个人财政的看法是过去10多年中最乐观的。2006年来第一次，有37%的受访家庭称他们预计自己的个人财务状况在2017年将改善。另外，实际收入预期也创下10年高位，因美国经济各领域的工资增长持续。
另外，跟踪美国家庭对来年商业状况变化的商业现况指数在10月下滑后回升，受访家庭中预计明年商业状况将改善的比例的单月升幅录得2008年来最大值。
然而，可能最令人意外的是这份报告对于一场不可思议的两极分化大选的掩饰程度；在这场选举中，选民在投票给谁上的意见是如此一致以至于没有出现摇摆州。

11月初值显示，14%受访者预计他们的家庭财政明年将恶化；但昨日发布的终值报告中，这一比例下降了3个百分点；预计明年财政状况将改善的受访者比例上升了2个百分点。
另外，受访者中有23%认为未来12个月美国失业人数将较现在减少，10月份这一数字为20%；有26%的受访者认为未来12个月美国失业人数将较现在增加。
密歇根大学调查主管Richard Curtin观点称，消费者预期指数的升高未必表示他们对新总统将显著改善个人财政和企业商业状况有信心；有可能消费者只是因大选结束而欢饮鼓舞。
