本周油市延续自由落体式下跌，布伦特原油期货价格连续六个交易日下跌，周五(12月11日)收跌4.5%至37.93美元/桶，为2008年12月以来最低收盘价。美国原油收在35美元/桶区域，为2009年2月来首次。
周一欧市盘中，美国原油期货价格向下击穿35整数关口，最底触及34.53美元/桶，创自2009年2月19日以来最低水平,随后反弹至35上方。同时，布伦特原油也扩大跌幅，布油跌破37关口，一度下探36.75美元/桶，亦刷新近6年低位。美市盘中，3月美国原油期货价格一度升至3月布伦特原油期货之上，创2010年10月以来最高溢价。
日内，伊朗方面信誓旦旦称要增加原油出口，让市场愈加猜测石油输出国组织(OPEC)成员国会使得全球供给过剩的现象恶化，这也对油价构成了下行压力。
另外，俄罗斯仍不愿减产，称天气太恶劣，这会使重启油井很困难。
油价的大跌也刺激了加元和卢布等石油相关货币。美元/加元日内最高上探1.3779，刷新近11年半高位。美元/卢布一度升至71.19，创4个月高位。
此外，由于原油价格的持续暴跌，这可能使得英国央行对通胀的担忧即将成为现实。
英国统计局周三或宣布，在截至10月份的3个月中，英国基础薪资涨幅可能从一个月前的2.5%降至2.3%，创下一季度以来最弱水平。报告或许还将显示，英国失业率维持在5.3%不变，追平9月份创下的七年多来最低水平。
