欧央行11月25日宣布，圣诞节期间，12月22日至次年1月1日将暂停资产购买计划，并与1月4日恢复。
此举考虑到圣诞节期间市场流动性降低避免导致价格扭曲。
控制19个使用欧元国家的欧央行表示，11月27日至12月21日将利用本月初相对较好的市场条件提前购买资产。
欧央行行长德拉基表示，有可能扩大1万亿欧元（约合1.1万亿美元）的的QE规模。
目前，欧央行每月购买资产规模为600亿欧元，并且将持续至2016年9月。
下一次欧央行利率决议将于12月3日在法兰克福举行。一份声明显示，考虑到美联储可能12月加息，所以在12月扩大欧央行QE规模将会扰乱市场。
一些欧央行委员反对扩大QE，德国央行六人执行委员之一Sabine Lautenschlaeger公开反对这种做法。
据路透报道，周一，她表示，“我看不到任何理由需要扩大QE，特别是增加资产购买规模。”
ING-DiBa的首席分析师Carsten Brzeski看到以德拉基为代表的欧央行鸽派获得了最终胜利。他在周二的一份研究报告中指出，“虽然强于预期的经济指标使得鹰派有理由反对扩大QE规模，但是，德拉基在10月份的会议中曾表示当经济存在潜在风险，通胀上行受阻的时候就应该实施新的QE。”
