周一欧市盘中，英镑贸易加权指数触及10周以来的高点，因之前公布的英国10月制造业活动指数意外飙升至16个月高位，表明今年四季度英国经济增长料加快步伐。
受益于出口订单反弹，英国10月Markit/CIPS制造业采购经理人指数(PMI)从9月份的51.8跳升至55.5，创16个月高位，远高于经济学家的最高预估值52.5。
这个数据说明英国经济无视来自新兴市场的逆风，并维持住了部分动力。数据同时也巩固了英国央行一些官员的观点，即英国经济已经强劲到可以容忍近期再度加息。
Markit称，该调查显示，英国经济第四季增速有望比第三季增速快一倍，不过许多经济学家在等待周三服务业调查报告出炉，以期获得有关经济复苏情况的更完整景象。
“调查结果与经济按季增长约1%的情况相符，这较前几个月有很大改善，”Markit的资深经济分析师Rob Dobson说。“海外销售重振活力是最新报告中尤为鼓舞人心的点，帮助打消了有关全球经济正在下降的顾虑，对未来前景来说是个好兆头。”
近几个月，对中国经济和其他新兴市场放缓的担忧给全球经济蒙上阴影。投资者因此推后了对主要央行升息的预期。但周一的调查显示，新出口订单分项指数升至2014年8月以来最高位。
调查还显示，英国10月制造业产出分项指数升至58.3，再次刷新了16个月高位，制造业的新接订单指数升至56.9，创2014年7月以来最高。
在强劲的PMI数据公布之后，英镑/美元持续飙升，一度升至1.5497，为11日以来的最高。英镑贸易加权指数则升至10周以来的高位93.50。
