周四(8月27日)纽约时段盘初公布的美国二季度GDP修正值及初请失业金数据均好于预期，美元指数短线拉升20余点，并刷新日高95.72，而后进一步拉升；同时欧元兑美元、英镑兑美元则纷纷快速下挫，后者一度刷新一个多月低点至1.5402。
美国商务部公布，美国第二季度GDP年化季率增幅由初值2.3%大幅上修为3.7%；同时第二季度GDP平减指数修正值亦好于预期，预期为增长2.0%，实际值为增长2.1%。
此外，劳工部公布的数据显示，美国8月22日当周初请失业金人数亦优于预期，预期值27.4万，实际值27.1万；美国8月22日当周初请失业金人数四周均值上升0.1万人，至27.25万人(前值为27.15万人)，且已连续22周低于30万人，持续的时间长度异乎寻常，这通常被认为是就业稳定增长的标志。
此前各主要机构均预期第二季度GDP将要上修，但实际公布的数据甚至还要超过大多数机构的前期预测。
强于预期的数据公布后，高盛将美国第三季度GDP预期从2.4%上调至2.5%，亚特兰大联储GDPNOW模型显示美国第三季度GDP预期从1.3%上调至1.4%。
