现货白银价格经过一段时间的上升后，大部分投资者获得较为丰厚的回报，而落袋为安的意愿也因此逐渐变强，部分投资者选择逢高卖出，此时抛压较强，现货白银价格承压下滑，随着现货白银价格下滑，投资者获得的现货白银套利渐趋降低，卖出意愿小幅降温的背景下，银价再度受撑走高。
高位卖出的投资者见银价下滑至一定的程度，且下跌幅度渐趋减缓，预期银价或将再度上扬，并开始进行回补操作。
没有进行追高买入的投资者没有抓住最佳操作时机，并在银价下滑时随意买入，这种介入转化成实质购买力并促进价格走高。
现货白银价格反弹到前高一线或者前高之前，低位买入的投资者再度获利回吐，前期没有及时卖出的投资者因担心失去售出最佳时机而加紧售出，银价承压再度下滑。
通常来说，现货白银价格在一个价位区间经过一段时间的震荡整理后保持反复上下波动，随之时间越来越就，投资者的平均持仓成本渐趋增强，卖出意愿也随之降低，获利盘及短线多单被清理，卖压渐趋减轻，剩下的都是对市场走向较为信心的投资者，而银价最终也将因成交量居高打破区间形态强势走高。
调整形态中，进行卖出操作的主要是获利丰厚的低点买入者，投资者一定要注意均线系统走势。均线系统未能接近形态前，行情很难透露出调整结束的信息。
整个调整形态构建过程中，每个投资者的心态及市场氛围都不尽相同，也因此会构建出形状各异的调整形态。
卖出压力稍显弱势的情况下，现货白银价格极有可能会构建矩形调整形态及上行三角形形态等;市场抛压较为严重时，现货白银价格可能会呈现出契形形态及旗形形态等；市场交投氛围不甚浓厚时，银价或将构成圆形调整形态，而每一种形态的背后，都涵盖不一样的市场氛围及投资者心态。
调整形态也能自发构成，就算没有人的操纵也可能会呈现，这一过程等同于波浪理论的第四浪。
