贵金属现货产品和贵金属期货产品最根本的不同在于交易机制，贵金属现货是做市商制度，交易商赚取的是点差，投资者可以即可买卖；而贵金属现货则是竞价加撮合成交的机制，交易商赚取的是手续费，必须要有其他投资者接单才能成交。
交易市场不同
贵金属现货，如伦敦金、伦敦银这些在国内较为热门的产品，其交易市场为全球市场，而黄金期货、白银期货这些，大多投资者选择的产品都是国内市场的产品，其不能在国际上流通，交易时间上有限制，跟24小时交易的现货市场大大不同。
交易杠杆不同
贵金属现货与期货由于保证金比例不同，因此在交易杠杆上也存在不同。如伦敦金和伦敦银，其保证金为合约价值的1%，交易杠杆达到1:100；而贵金属期货，如黄金期货，其保证金为合约价值的7%。
持仓时间不同
现货贵金属没有持仓时间的限制，想要持仓多久都可以，而贵金属期货则不能，其最久只能持仓到交割月的前一个月。
