相对强弱指数RSI技术指标的原理是按照多空双方的力量对比，进而判断金价的后市走向，黄金作为一种大宗商品，以商品经济学为例，假设黄金价值是1000元，其产量总体保持稳定，然而购买人数日益增加的情况下，将出现供不用求的现象，此时黄金价格将会上涨，相反地，若购买人数日益减少，将出现供过于求，此时黄金价格将会下跌。相对强弱指数RSI技术指标认为，金价单边行情的出现，均在0-100的阈值内变动，0-30区间为超卖，30-80为常规状态，80-100为超卖的现货黄金行情。
从炒黄金相对强弱指标RSI的阈值0-100中我们可以知道，一般RSI值进入30数值以下，即为超卖行情，此时多头积累的能量，很有可能在经历超卖行情后爆发。一般RSI值进入80以上时，即为超买行情，此时空头积累的能量，很有可能在经历超买行情后爆发。
下面我们结合K线图走势和相对强弱指数RSI指标的曲线形态来分析后市的金价走势
1、 同向走势：当RSI值处于50上方时，为强势市场，而此时RSI线已经形成M字形或头肩顶走势时，意味着金价在经历上行以后，多头能量逐渐衰弱，下行行情即将开始，若K线图随后也出现如此走势，投资者应把手中的多单平掉，此时宜入市做空。反之RSI值处于50下方，为弱势市场，此时RSI线已经形成W字形或头肩底走势时，意味着反弹行情即将开始，投资者应把手中空单平掉，此时宜进场做多。顶部反转形态的准确率要高于底部形态。
2、 背离走势：当RSI指标处于50上方并走出新高以后，随之震荡下行，而K线图则继续开出阳线，可以确认此为顶背离，顶背离意味着K线在行情高位即将发生反转，随即转为下行；当RSI指标处于30下方并走出新低以后，随之震荡上行，而K线图继续开出阴线，可以确认此为底背离，底背离意味着K线在行情低位即将发生反转，随即会发生反弹。
