製造業資料表現較差，金價小幅上漲

具體資料顯示，美國12月ISM製造業PMI實際公佈47.20，預期49，前值48.1。其中分項，美國12月ISM製造業就業指數實際公佈45.10，前值46.6。美國12月ISM製造業PMI為2009年6月以來最低。
美國製造業經歷了動盪的一年，12月的表現為2009年6月以來最差。這也標誌著這一資料已連續五個月下滑，遜于分析師此前的預估值。其原因是訂單減少，工廠繼續減產。同樣，這一資料表明，美國工廠仍然受到國內商業投資萎縮、全球需求走軟的桎梏。
對於美國製造業，有分析指出，目前市場預期美國經濟將保持適度增長，但仍有資料顯示美國製造業依舊疲軟。12月利率決議上，美聯儲表示製造業成為了拖累美國經濟的一個重要因素。儘管四季度以來全球製造業景氣度整體回升，但美國自身製造業PMI短期復蘇不確定性仍在。
此前週四美國方面曾公佈了美國12月Markit製造業終值資料，結果該資料略微差於預期。具體資料顯示，美國12月Markit製造業PMI終值實際公佈52.4，預期52.5，前值52.5。
分析師指出，美國製造業繼從2019年夏季的低位復蘇，以2019年初以來的最好表現結束了2019年。不過，去年12月的製造業總體擴張速度仍有所放緩，仍然比前年同期水準低。這表明與2019年初的情況相比，生產商在2020年初的基礎比較薄弱。
