12月13日，美國公佈了市場重點關注的11月零售銷售資料，資料不及市場預期，在一系列美國資料公佈後，金價沖高後回落。雖然零售資料疲軟，支撐金價，但目前較為樂觀的貿易局勢給金價帶來了一定的壓力。
具體資料顯示，美國11月零售銷售月率實際公佈0.2%，預期0.5%，前值0.3%；美國10月核心零售銷售月率實際公佈0.1 %，預期0.4%，前值0.2%。
由於美國人削減開支，美國11月零售銷售月率低於預期，核心零售銷售月率僅有小幅增長，這可能讓經濟學家下調第四季度經濟增速預期。這份報告與近期相當樂觀的勞動力市場、樓市、貿易及製造業資料並不一致，後者暗示儘管面臨貿易和全球增長放緩的不利影響，經濟正適度增長。
美國消費者在假日購物季伊始就展現了較高的速度，受網購帶動，零售銷售額錄得2013年以來最大增幅。從感恩節到“網路星期一”這五天的假日購物季，參與購物的美國消費者人數達近1.9億人，比去年同期增長14%；人均消費支出361.9美元，比去年同期增長16%。
美國感恩節至新年之間傳統購物季的商店銷售額占全年銷售額的三分之一，利潤可達全年利潤的40%。而各大零售商門店今年普遍存在“門可羅雀”的情況，線下銷售額同比下滑6.2%；線上銷售額雖然同比大漲19.6%，但銷售額整體並未達到此前外界預期。
美國11月進口物價指數月率溫和反彈，潛在趨勢依然疲軟，這與進口通脹壓力減弱的情況相一致。本周公佈的通脹情況喜憂參半，美國CPI穩步上漲，但PPI沒有增長。
