韓國青瓦臺國家安保室長鄭義溶週四(3月8日)稱，兩國領導人可能在5月前會面，金正恩已承諾避免進行更多核子試驗及導彈試射活動。此前鄭義溶向白宮官員介紹了朝韓會談情況。
美國總統特朗普表示，正在準備與朝鮮領導人金正的會面。這將是雙方首次面對面，可能成為朝核危機取得重大突破的標誌。

分析師表示：“金正恩可能坐上談判桌，我們正見到市場對此的反應，就是這刺激風險交易，同時讓避險資產面臨壓力。”
分析師報告中寫道：“我們溫和看空黃金價格，預計收益率上升的環境構成阻力，但我們認為美國2018年升息的影響已經被市場消化，而上市交易基金(ETF)持倉近來非常穩定，預計金價六個月後來到1275美元。”
投資者等候週五稍晚將公佈的美國就業報告，包括非農就業數據和平均時薪。上述香港交易員補充道：“我認為2月份的美國非農報告對黃金可能略微偏空，數據表現預計向好。”
