擔憂情緒重燃主要是因為英國首相鮑裏斯·詹森採取行動修改法律、明確規定英國脫歐過渡期不會延續到後年之後。如果過渡期期間沒有達成新的協議，那麼英國將會硬脫歐。
如果英國能在2020年1月31日順利脫歐，英歐雙方將進入脫歐後的過渡期。期間，英國名義上脫離歐盟，但在其他所有方面仍然享受歐盟成員國待遇。在這段時間內，英歐雙方將努力達成新的貿易協定。
週二紐約時段，美國方面公佈的經濟數據顯示，美國11月新屋開工和營建許可數據表現均超出預期，良好的美國房市數據給金價帶來壓力。
具體數據顯示，美國11月營建許可月率實際公佈1.40%，預期-2.9%，前值5%；美國11月新屋開工年化月率實際公佈3.20%，預期2.3%，前值3.8%。
據報導，義大利巴裏銀行近日曝出資金缺口巨大並陷入嚴重危機。上週末，義大利央行已開始接管該銀行。義大利政府內閣最終批准向巴裏銀行注資9億歐元。
美國越來越多代表激烈選區的民主黨議員16日“賭上政治前途”，表態支持彈劾總統特朗普。
